About Me

Leanna Irby, Owner and Photographer

Welcome to Simply Pure Photography!

I specialize in photographing newborns and their families. I enjoy capturing the simple intimate moments between a family and their precious newborn. My clients love the fine art newborn portraits that are produced and provided for their enjoyment to hold for a lifetime. Newborns only stay tiny for but a glimpse of a moment but a newborn portrait lasts for always.

I shoot to provide the best quality experience for my clients, which includes: pro-quality equipment, advanced editing software, specialized training through workshops to photograph newborns, and my desire to ensure that my clients are heard through-out the process and are satisfied with their portraits.

I live and work in Mount Pleasant South Carolina, including the surrounding area. My husband, and 2 kids are my biggest fans, supporters, and photo models 🙂 We have a german shepherd and our favorite activities involve exploring the outdoors, such as: hiking, biking, fishing, camping, skiing, and trying new adventures. God is my source of strength and I strive to serve him by serving others!

Thank you for your interest in Simply Pure Photography, I hope that you enjoy viewing the galleries, please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions, comments, or to schedule your photo session!

  1. You are very gifted! I am a photographer as well (or should I say, a “budding” photographer). I’ve not had any training, but have had a passion for capturing precious moments in time since I was 15 and I’m now 40! It wasn’t until about a year ago though, that I was able to purchase a nicer quality camera (still only $400 – an Olympus Stylus SP-100EE). But even so, I realize it is not as good of quality as I’d like or should have for doing “professional grade”/quality photo shoots. However, I also realize it’s all I can afford right now. My interests also include Maternity and newborns, but what I especially love are young children. I practice on my son who’s 3 and a half. 🙂
I tell you all this because I am a friend of Morgan Ramsdell and she is the one who gave me your information and said to contact you…that maybe I could do some “shadowing” as I learn from you some of your “tricks of the trade”. She said that, just like me, you’ve never had any “schooling” in this. I’ve not taken any workshops yet, but have had some free advise thru a couple different websites I’ve visited and had information and training videos sent to me.
I will call you, but thought I’d just post my thoughts here for the moment, since my son is now asleep and I had the chance.
I had a couple questions. What type of camera do you use or suggest and if you don’t mind telling me know what I should expect to pay for such a camera in order to do top notch quality photo shoots? Also, what photo editing software do you use? I am a single mom living in a “transitional” home and going through an ugly custody battle. I just got a new part-time job at Kohl’s and am living on a very tight budget. But I truly believe the Lord is calling me into this line of work and if I have to go into debt temporarily with a credit card (which will also allow me to build my credit) then I may do this…if you think I should just “bite-the-bullet” and get the necessary tools.
I guess what I’m really asking, is how much should I expect to pay to get rolling in this (from equipment to software to props), and how long did it take you to get started? Did you buy everything at once? Or a piece at a time? How long did it take you to get your business up and running? Do you charge a standard price for your work or work with individual families and what they can afford? I still have to research the name I chose for myself (Beautiful You) and see if it’s been taken yet. If not, I need to get a copyright?? (Am I correct in my thinking about this)?
Well, I know this is a lot to ask of you, but hoped if I left you with this information, maybe it would be an “ice breaker” to our meeting…if you aren’t too busy. Morgan told me you will be leaving soon as missionaries?? So awesome, by the way! So if we could meet maybe sometime next week, that would be great! I have Monday, Wednesday (morning or late afternoon) and Friday open. If that week doesn’t work for you, then maybe the following week. I just don’t know my work schedule yet for that week.
Anyways, it was a pleasure to look at your photo shoots! Just love your work! And would love to get to know you personally/professionally!

    • Rebecca,

Thank you so much for your kind words! I would love to offer some advice/mentoring/shadowing to help you out as fellow photographer and sister in Christ! Morgan mentioned you might be contacting me and I do look forward to chatting with you further. Send me an email so we can further our discussion a bit more privately and we can hopefully schedule a time to meet soon. My email is leanna@simplypurephoto.com
      Take care,

      Leanna, Simply Pure Photography
